How to Make Your First Resume With No Work Experience
Your first resume can show what you have learned and contributed even if you have not had a paid job. Start with real activities and explain your part clearly.
Collect examples before choosing a template
List school projects, clubs, volunteering, personal projects and other relevant responsibilities. For each one, note what you did, what tools you used and what you completed. You are looking for evidence of the work in the posting, not a long list of everything you have ever done.
Describe your part in a project
A project title alone does not tell a reader what you contributed. Explain your task and the output. If it was a team assignment, separate your work from the team’s overall result.

Keep the structure easy to scan
Include a professional email address, a short relevant summary if useful, education, projects or experience, and skills you can explain. In the builder, use the experience entries for projects or volunteering and label them accurately. Include only contact and location information you are comfortable sharing; a full street address is usually unnecessary.
Make the skills list believable
Choose skills that appear in your examples. If you list spreadsheets, be ready to explain what you built or analyzed. Do not add unfamiliar software just because a posting mentions it. A clear description of beginner-level practice is more useful than an unsupported claim of expertise.
Use feedback without losing your voice
AI can help organize your imported notes or suggest wording for the experience you enter. Read each suggestion carefully: remove any invented employer, credential or outcome. Ask someone you trust to review the final file, and follow the employer’s instructions about format and required information.
