Before you press send.
A good resume makes your relevant work easy to understand. Use this checklist to give your application a careful final review.
Make the basics easy to find
- Use the name you want employers to contact you by.
- Check your email, phone number and portfolio address.
- Include your city or region if relevant. A full street address is usually unnecessary.
Give your experience context
For each contribution, explain what you did, where it mattered and what happened. Use a real metric when you have one; do not invent numbers to make a bullet look impressive. Projects, volunteering and independent work can also demonstrate relevant experience.
Tailor with evidence
Read the job description and identify the work you have actually done that relates to it. Our keyword tool helps spot exact-word overlap, but it does not understand meaning or assess your suitability. Use natural language and specific examples.
Check the final file
- Remove all sample content and bracketed placeholders.
- Confirm dates, organization names and claims.
- Review page breaks, spelling, contact details and text in the downloaded PDF.
- Follow the employer’s requested file format and application instructions.
