ATS resume checker: compare your resume with the job.
Paste a job description next to your resume to see which of its frequent terms you already use and which are missing. Then run a few practical formatting checks for the things that most often confuse resume parsers: multiple columns, tables, images, unusual headings and missing dates.

Everything below runs in this browser tab. Your resume and the job description are not uploaded, saved or sent to AI.
Keyword comparison
Paste both your resume and a job description to compare keywords.
Formatting checks
Add at least a few lines of resume text to run the formatting checks.
These are rule-of-thumb checks, not a real applicant tracking system and not a score. Employers configure their systems differently, and a person usually reviews applications too.
How to use the checker
- Add your resume. Paste the text, or choose a PDF, DOCX or TXT file. The file is read in your browser.
- Paste the job description. Include the responsibilities and requirements, not just the title.
- Review missing terms. For each one, ask whether you have real experience that fits. If you do, describe it in a bullet with context, rather than only adding it to a skills list.
- Fix formatting warnings. Move information out of tables, text boxes and images, use plain headings, and give each role dates.
- Edit and export. Make changes in the resume builder and download a PDF, Word or plain-text file.
What the formatting checks look for
- Standard headings: lines such as Experience, Education and Skills that parsers use to split a resume into sections.
- Dates: years or month-and-year ranges for roles and qualifications.
- Contact details in the body: an email or phone number in the readable text, not only in a header or image.
- Single column, no tables, text boxes or images: checked directly in DOCX files; for PDFs and pasted text we flag large gaps that suggest side-by-side columns.
- Icon fonts and skill bars: characters that look like symbols on screen but become meaningless text when extracted.
Passing these checks doesn’t guarantee an interview, and a warning doesn’t mean your resume will be rejected. They are prompts for a careful review.
Questions
Is this a real ATS score?
No. There is no universal ATS score, and we don’t invent one. Applicant tracking systems differ by vendor and by how each employer configures them. This page shows exact keyword overlap and a few structural checks that commonly affect how resume text is read.
Is my resume uploaded?
No. Pasted text and chosen files are read in your browser tab. The comparison and checks run on your device; the text you paste or the file you choose is not sent to our servers or to AI. Refreshing the page clears it.
Should I add every missing keyword?
Only the ones that truthfully describe your experience. A missing term is a prompt to check whether you have relevant work you haven’t mentioned, or whether you use a different word for the same thing. Listing skills you don’t have can backfire in an interview.
Why are tables and images only checked for Word files?
A DOCX file describes its tables, columns, text boxes and images directly, so they can be detected reliably. PDFs and pasted text don’t carry that structure in a dependable way, so for those we say what wasn’t checked instead of guessing.
Does a resume built here pass these checks?
Resumes from our builder use one column, plain section headings, real text and no tables or images, in PDF, Word and text exports. You still need to add dates, contact details and relevant experience yourself.
